New York City attack: What You Should Know
In the early hours of Monday morning, an explosion was heard at the main transit station entrance.
New York City officials have called it an attempted terrorist attack.
An already identified Suspect, Akayed Ullah willingly detonated a homemade pipe bomb in the busy transit hub leaving five people with minor injuries.
However, for the suspect, he was seriously injured.
The 27-year-old who is originally from Bangladesh was seen lying on the floor with serious burns in his stomach and hands.
How the Self-made bomb was made and detonated
Ullah, made the device using wires, battery, screws and a Christmas bulb which he later detonated.
The explosive chemical ignited while in the pipe but did not explode.
What led Ullah to perform the action?
During an interview with the investigators, He openly admitted having been inspired to make and perform the action by ISIS.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is known for executing people openly.
It is also believed that Ullah had taught himself to make the bomb on the Internet.
Facebook Post before the Explosion
“Trump you failed to protect your nation,” That’s according to a Facebook post posted earlier by Akayad Ullah.
What the suspect expected to do was kill a dozen people in the underground walkway which accommodates 220,000 passenger trips a day. But that didn’t go according to his plan.
Who is Akayad Ullah?
Ullah has his origin from Bangladeshi and has been living in the United States since 2011. Sarcastically, he has never had any criminal record. He began building the explosive a week ago in his home.
At the moment, the Ullah family is being investigated by the police to try and find out crucial information that may help.
What this terrorist did was to try and frustrate the government as influenced by the ISIS to bring down the leadership of President Donald Trump.
